We do this by developing programs and funding over 105 community partners.  Together, we invest in education to ensure children succeed in school and achieve their potential.  We help families become financially stable and independent.  And, we ensure our communities have access to healthcare, food, and positive lifestyle choices.  Our expert staff, supported by a high profile Board of Directors, brings together partners and volunteers from across Long Island to discuss issues, raise funds and develop programs for the building blocks of a good life:

The ELM Project / Camp AmeriKids

Each year The ELM Project welcomes over 250 Tri-State area children living with the challenges of HIV/AIDS and sickle cell disease to our summer program, Camp AmeriKids. Campers ages 8–16 enjoy one of two seven-day sessions at a beautiful site in Warwick, NY. Our program is free of charge and transportation is provided to our site.

All of our campers get the opportunity to participate in a wealth of activities like swimming, boating, team-building, sports, drama, music production, arts and crafts, spoken word/poetry, and dance. During special occasions such as Carnival Day, campers delight in game booths, prizes, face-painting, bounce-houses, and the devouring of cotton candy. Evening events include a luau dance, campfires with s’mores and sing-a-longs, a basketball tournament, and unique inspirational performances by special guests. Each session culminates in a wonderful talent show, where campers charismatically take the stage to share skills and passions with their entire camp community.

Camp AmeriKids provides comprehensive and unobtrusive medical care within a camp environment. The camp infirmary is overseen by at least two physicians and over ten nurses/nurse practitioners who all reside on the grounds while camp is in session. Each camper’s medical history is evaluated prior to arrival at camp, ensuring that medications are administered on schedule and that all necessary medical precautions are taken during the session.

The Fiver Children's Foundation

The Fiver Children's Foundation is a comprehensive youth development organization that makes a 10-year commitment to children from underserved communities throughout New York City and central New York. Through character-building summer and year-round out-of-school time programs, Fiver empowers children to make ethical and healthy decisions, to become engaged citizens, and to succeed in school, careers, and life.

Fiver takes its name from Richard Adam’s celebrated work of fiction Watership Down. The novel focuses on the survival, leadership, and courage of a group of rabbits, led by the visionary rabbit Fiver, who set out to find a better way of life. Inspired by this story, Founder and Chairman of the Board Tom Tucker established the Foundation in 1998 to benefit children from economically disadvantaged circumstances. What began as a summer camp has evolved into a comprehensive, year-round youth development organization.

To each participant, Fiver pledges 10 years of comprehensive, developmentally appropriate programs and support. Children begin the program at age 8 and graduate at age 18, upon high school graduation.  Fiver aims to serve all of the children within a family and also provides a network of support for parents. Our programs are experiential, inquiry-based, youth-driven and free of charge to participants.

Concordia Conservatory

Concordia Conservatory, a preeminent center for music education in Westchester and Fairfield Counties, is a welcoming community where children and adults find lifelong inspiration and joy through learning, performing, listening to, and participating with others in music. The Conservatory’s mission is to inspire, instruct, and enrich lives through music offering excellence in education and performance.

Our distinguished faculty offers a broad and well-rounded curriculum that provides a strong foundation for students of different ages, abilities, and interests. The Conservatory strives to make an education available to everyone through scholarship assistance and outreach programs.

At the heart of the Conservatory community is our faculty and students. Conservatory students come from all over the region from New York City to Connecticut with ages ranging from 6 months through seniors. Our students run the gamut from young beginners to adult amateurs to undergraduate music degree bound high school musicians. The Conservatory’s faculty is comprised of professional artists of the highest quality, representing multiple countries and cultures. They have diverse backgrounds, education, performance and experiences.

Christo Rey Booklyn High School

Cristo Rey Brooklyn is a Catholic high school that educates young people of limited economic means to become men and women of faith, purpose, and service.  By offering a rigorous curriculum, a unique work-study experience, and the support of an inclusive school community, we prepare our students to succeed in college and beyond with values essential to a fulfilling life.

A critical component of the Cristo Rey Brooklyn experience is our Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP), an innovative educational and financial model that allows students to receive a private, college preparatory education while getting invaluable work experience.

Students work one day per week in entry-level positions at an assigned company. Five students work on a team to fill one full-time job; each student has an assigned day on which he or she works. Academic classes are scheduled to ensure students never miss class.

Our work study program enables students to earn up to 50% or more of the cost of their education and the program is separately incorporated, effectively functioning as an employment agency alongside Cristo Rey Brooklyn High School. This experience is an essential part of our students’ education and growth. It enables students to directly contribute to the cost of their education while exposing them to the world of work; learning firsthand the values of hard work, responsibility, and ambition.

Maria Fareri Children's Hospital at Westchester Medical Center

Teaching the Healthcare of Tomorrow
As part of Westchester Medical Center, an academic health affiliate of New York Medical College, Maria Fareri Children's Hospital is also a major teaching facility. Our dedicated staff of more than 150 pediatric specialists is involved in research, developing tomorrow's treatments and in training the children's health care providers of tomorrow in the arts and sciences of pediatric medical care. This is delivered under a philosophy that acknowledges that families are important participants on the team at the Children's Hospital. Family-centered care is at the core of our mission and all Children's Hospital students, residents and other trainees learn that the active involvement of families in the healing process - whatever the illness - is an important part of helping children recover and stay well.
